Welcome To The
Lake Munson Restoration Project

Lake Munson January 1999
Leon County began the long-anticipated
restoration of Lake Munson by constructing a 25-acre stormwater
treatment facility at Lake Henrietta. The facility, located
between Springhill Road and Capital Circle S.W., treats runoff
before it enters Lake Munson. In addition, Munson Slough was regraded
and stabilized from the restored Lake Henrietta to the beginning of
Lake Munson. This reduces the erosion of the streambanks and decreases
the sediment reaching Lake Munson. Click here to

Future plans include restoring Lake Munson itself by removing the nutrient-rich
sediment, establishing a greenway connecting Lake Henrietta to the Lake
Munson park through the Apalachicola National Forest, and replacing the
Lake Munson dam.
