Commissioner Jane G. Sauls has served the citizens of District 2 since 1996, when she was first elected to the Board, and then re-elected in 2000 and 2004. She has served as the Board’s Chairman two times – in 1999-2000 and 2003-2004.

Commissioner Sauls’ proud accomplishments include the construction of the Ft. Braden Branch Library, the Ft. Braden Community Center renovations, which includes basketball courts and a new picnic pavilion, the creation of the Ft. Braden Recreational Center and Park, the establishment of county participation in helping those on private dirt roads, the Crawfordville Highway widening project, the improvements of the boat landings on Lake Talquin and the creation of Leon County’s Emergency Medical Service department.

Her current top priorities include the construction of the Woodville Community Center, establishing a new branch library in Woodville, funding to widen Woodville Highway and the creation of a joint dispatch center for law enforcement and public safety personnel.

Sauls has been in public service her entire professional career, working for the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Office for 32 years, including Clerk of the Statewide Grand Jury, and several years in the State Attorney’s Office.

Commissioner Sauls is involved with numerous public committees and civic groups, including serving on Leon County’s Election Canvassing Board. She is also certified through the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) becoming the first and only Leon County Commissioner to be certified. Sauls is a graduate of Leon High School Class of 1961. She has been married to her husband Marvin since 1962, has two children and three grandchildren.
