 Parwez Alam is County
Administrator of Leon County, Florida, where he has been
employed since 1986. His prior public sector experience includes twelve
years in City Government - he served as City Manager of two cities in
Florida - and three and a half years with the Government of Nigeria. Mr. Alam's private sector experience includes three and a half years, in
management positions, with an international petroleum company (Exxon) and
one year with a national planning and engineering firm (PBS&J),
where he served as Director of Transportation Services.
Parwez Alam received his undergraduate degree in Civil
Engineering from the University of Karachi, and his Master of Science
degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University. He also received
a Master of Science degree in Management from the University of South
Florida, College of Business Administration.

Since 1986 Mr. Alam has
served as an adjunct professor at Florida State University. He has taught
courses at the College of Business and at the School of Public
Administration. Mr. Alam is a member of several professional and civic
organizations, and serves in leadership positions in some of these
organizations at state and national levels. He has been recognized
nationally for his achievements in local government, most recently
receiving the 2002 Leadership Award from the American Society for Public
Administration (ASPA). |
