Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Events

 

Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Events are held on the first Saturday of the month between September and May.  We can also be found at the City of Tallahassee's Cash-for-Trash events every April and October.

You don't have to wait!  The Hazardous Waste Center is open six days a week.

BRING THESE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE ITEMS TO REMOTE COLLECTIONS:
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Ammunition
  • Batteries*
  • Bleach
  • Drain Cleaner
  • Electronics-TV’s and Computers (limit one per household)
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Flares and Pyrotechnics
  • Fluorescent Bulbs and Ballasts
  • Gasoline, Kerosene, Diesel Fuel
  • Household Cleaners
  • Mercury-containing Devices  (thermometers, thermostats, manometers)
  • Motor Oil
  • Paints and Thinners
  • Pesticides, Herbicides, Lawn and Garden Chemicals
  • Photographic Chemicals
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Pressure Bottles and Tanks (oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc.)
  • Propane Bottles and Tanks (less than 40 lbs.)
  • Tires (Limit One Per Household)

Please limit your load to 50 lbs. or 5 gallons per household.

*BATTERIES

  • Automotive Batteries

  • Button Batteries

  • Lithium Ion Batteries

  • Rechargeable Batteries

  • Sealed Lead-acid Batteries

(ALKALINE Batteries no longer contain mercury and are not hazardous and can be put into household garbage.

 We DO NOT accept medical (including sharps), pharmaceutical, or radioactive materials at remote collections.

Hazardous waste from non-household sources (business, agency, church or organization) are not accepted at Collection Events. Disposal of non-household hazardous waste is by appointment only at the Hazardous Waste Center. Fees will apply. 

For citizen and staff safety, Collection Events are weather dependent and may be cancelled or postponed in the case of adverse conditions. We will make every effort to reschedule as soon as possible and information will be updated as it becomes available.
