The Direct Emergency
Assistance Program is designed to meet the emergency needs of
residents of Leon County by providing financial assistance with
rent/mortgage, utilities/fuel, food and medication. Situations
arise where, due to a family crisis, loss of employment, of some
other emergency, an individual or family can find that they are
temporarily unable to provide themselves with shelter, food, heat,
electricity, or medicine. By providing a food voucher, a rent
payment, a medicine voucher or a utility/fuel payment, this program
is keeps individuals and families from going without a necessity
which is vital to their existence. The DEAP program provides
temporary emergency assistance and is not on-going public
assistance.
