Ed was elected to a 4 year term as an At-Large County Commissioner in November of 2004. After high school Ed served as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, prior to commencing his 28 year career in the criminal justice system. Ed is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Criminology. He has served in a number of positions including State Trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, Investigator for the State Attorney’s office, and Deputy Sheriff in Seminole, Brevard and Leon Counties.
Ed also served on the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission, having been appointed to consecutive four-year terms by two different governors, holding the position of Vice-Chairman for two of those years. He went on to hold the position of Finance Chairman for Jeb Bush’s first gubernatorial campaignWith the election of Governor Jeb Bush, Ed was responsible for a staff of 130 personnel as Division Director for the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. He was also appointed to the Leon County Commission by Governor Jeb
Bush in 2001-2002. Ed currently serves as Leon County Commissioner at
Large, a position he was elected to in the 2004 primary winning 55% of
the vote in a crowded 6 way race.
Ed’s professional involvements are both extensive and impressive. His memberships include the Capital City Republican
Club, Rotary Club, the Capital Tiger Bay Club (elected President),
Habitat for Humanity, and the Florida Association of Professional
Lobbyists .
