Leon County residents of all ages enjoyed a beautiful day planting trees and helping our environment with the Arbor Day Celebration Tree Planting hosted by Leon County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Tallahassee on Saturday, Jan. 26.

The planting site was at the Leon County Alford Arm Greenway, located at the end of South Pedrick Road. This planting helped restore North Florida's original forest - the long leaf pine ecosystem. County Parks & Recreation provided hay rides from the parking area to the planting site, and the City of Tallahassee Tree Bank provided funding to purchase the 1,250 pine seedlings that were planted.
